What Is Business English?
Business English is the English used in professional environments, rather than the general English taught for everyday conversation and travel. The grammar is the same; the situations, vocabulary and level of directness are not. A learner can be comfortable chatting in English and still lose control of a meeting, over-formalise an email, or go silent when a client asks an unexpected question.
In practice, Business English means being able to take part in meetings, write professional emails, present ideas and figures, speak with clients and suppliers, negotiate conditions, communicate with international colleagues, handle everyday workplace conversations, and prepare for interviews in English. Each of these has its own patterns — how you interrupt politely, how you soften a refusal, how you follow up without sounding aggressive.
