Business English for Arabic-Speaking Professionals
Business English is not a harder version of general English. It is a defined set of situations, each with its own phrases — which is why it can be learned faster than most people expect.

In short
For Arabic-speaking professionals, Business English breaks down into six situations: meetings, email, phone and video calls, presentations, negotiation, and small talk with colleagues or clients. Each has a small set of reusable phrases, so the fastest approach is to learn the situations you face weekly first and leave the rest. A B1 level is normally enough to work in English if the situational phrases are in place; a high level of grammar without them is not.
Key facts
- Six core situations: meetings, email, calls, presentations, negotiation, small talk
- Situational phrases matter more than advanced grammar
- B1 with the right phrases usually outperforms B2 without them
- Written and spoken business English need different registers
- Your own sector vocabulary should be built from your real documents
- Englify teaches Business English one-to-one at 100 MAD per hour

Start with the situations you face weekly
If you attend a weekly meeting and write ten emails a day but never present, learn meetings and email first and ignore presentations for now. Learning in the order of your calendar produces visible results in two or three weeks.
Meetings
- Interrupting politely: 'Sorry, may I add something here?'
- Asking for clarification: 'Could you go back to the previous point?'
- Disagreeing without conflict: 'I see it slightly differently, because…'
- Buying time: 'That's a good question — let me think for a second.'
- Summarising: 'So, to summarise, we agreed on three things.'
Business email is shorter and more direct in English than the equivalent in Arabic or French. Long courtesy openings often read as unclear rather than polite.
Structure that works: one line of purpose, the details, one line of action requested, close. 'I'm writing to confirm…', 'Could you please send…', 'Let me know if anything is missing.'
Calls and video meetings
Calls remove the visual clues, so they feel harder than face-to-face conversation even at the same level. Prepare the opening and the closing, and keep two phrases ready for bad audio: 'Sorry, you cut out — could you repeat the last part?' and 'Let me check I understood correctly.'
Presentations
A presentation is one of the few business situations you can fully rehearse, which makes it the highest-return thing to practise with a teacher. We rehearse the real presentation and then the questions that follow it, since that is where most speakers lose control.
Small talk
Underrated and often decisive. The two minutes before a meeting shape how competent you sound. Prepare three safe topics and three ways to move from small talk into business.
How we teach it
