English before you move abroad
Your visa file proves you can move. It does not prepare you for the first phone call to a landlord, the first appointment with a doctor or the first meeting at a new job. These lessons practise those exact situations before you leave.

In short
To prepare your English before moving abroad, practise the real situations you will meet in the first weeks — renting, banking, health appointments, phone calls, work and your children's school — out loud, with a teacher who corrects you. Englify gives live online lessons on Google Meet built around those situations. This is practical language preparation, not immigration advice and not IELTS or TOEFL preparation.

Why exam English is not enough
Many people pass an English test and still struggle in their first month abroad. Tests check reading, writing, listening and speaking in controlled tasks. Real life is faster: people speak with local accents, use short informal phrases, and expect you to answer immediately.
The gap is usually not grammar. It is speed, confidence and the specific vocabulary of daily tasks — a tenancy agreement, a pharmacy, a payslip, a bus route.
The situations we practise
| Situation | What you practise | Typical phrases |
|---|---|---|
| Renting a home | Asking about rent, bills, deposit and contract length; reporting a problem | "Are utilities included?" · "The heating isn't working." |
| The doctor or pharmacy | Describing symptoms, duration and allergies; understanding instructions | "I've had a sore throat for three days." · "How many times a day?" |
| Phone calls | Booking, rescheduling, spelling your name, asking someone to repeat | "Could you spell that, please?" · "Sorry, could you say that more slowly?" |
| Banking and admin | Opening an account, asking about documents, understanding forms | "What documents do I need?" · "Is there a monthly fee?" |
| Work | Introducing yourself, small talk, asking for clarification, short updates in meetings | "Just to confirm, you need it by Friday?" |
| Your children's school | Talking to teachers, reading school messages, parent meetings | "How is she doing in class?" |
| Everyday life | Shopping, transport, neighbours, making friends | "Does this bus go to the city centre?" |

Role-play the situations
Your teacher plays the landlord, the receptionist or the manager. You answer, get corrected, and repeat until it is natural.
Report after the session
You get the new vocabulary and corrections in writing so you can review before the real conversation.
Moving abroad vs exam preparation
If your visa, university or employer needs an exam score, you need exam preparation as well. If you already have the score, or don't need one, practical preparation is usually the better use of your time. Many learners do both: exam first, then everyday English before the move.

Destination guides
Some situations are the same everywhere. Others depend on the country — the words for doctors, rent, taxes and the way colleagues talk. We wrote separate guides only where the differences are real:

Frequently asked questions
- How long before moving should I start English lessons?
- Ideally two to three months before the move, so you have time to practise each situation several times. Even a few weeks of focused practice on phone calls and appointments helps.
- Is this IELTS or TOEFL preparation?
- No. This is practical English for daily life. If you need an exam score, Englify also offers separate IELTS and TOEFL preparation.
- Do you give immigration or visa advice?
- No. We teach language only. For visas and permits, use the official government website of your destination country.
- Are the lessons live?
- Yes. Every lesson is live with a teacher on Google Meet, 60 minutes per session.
- Can I keep taking lessons after I arrive?
- Yes. Classes are online, so you can continue from your new country and bring real situations from your week to the lesson.
- How much does it cost?
- The price depends on your country and the number of hours. We tell you the price in your currency on WhatsApp or during the free trial class.
