Language schools across Europe plan courses using roughly these figures for guided learning hours — that is, class time with a teacher, not counting homework:

Most of our adult learners start at A2 or B1, not A1, which is why they reach a usable B2 in one to two years rather than four.

Why 'fluent in 3 months' claims fail
Nothing in the research supports jumping two CEFR levels in a quarter for an adult with a job. What does happen in three months is a visible change in confidence: you stop translating in your head, you answer without long pauses, and you handle a meeting or a phone call. That is real progress, but it is not a level change on paper.
We prefer to measure it: a placement test at the start, an end-of-level assessment before you move up, and a written teacher report after every session so you can see the curve instead of guessing.
How to build your own timeline
Take a level test, choose your target level and the deadline that matters (an exam date, an application, a job). Divide the hours needed by the weeks you have and you get the sessions per week your goal actually requires. If that number is impossible, the honest fix is to move the deadline or the target — not to hope for a shortcut.
